Dreamcast Gamble:

I call the Sega Dreamcast an electronic gamble with a hidden conspiracy. A gamble is a risk, if one notices the price of the Dreamcast they really dropped to where one can be picked up for 19.99 and rival that of the Playstation, X-Box, and Nintendo. What one does no realize is that their a faulty fuse on the the controller port on a minority of the machines. Not that many but enough to cause marketing problems. So what does this mean? From my research and asking question between 15 and 20 percent of the machines blow a fuse. That is 2 out every 10. In an age where electronics are stable and Ataris and old school Nintendos are still around and going strong, their is a grey area surrounding the manufacturing and subcontracting the components regarding the controller chip.

What is the below all about? It is about interfacing with a controller that houses a memory card. Different games require different memory. I have three Dreamcast one will not work because of the blown fuse which happened during file maintenance, checking the available memory on a memory card. Then all of a sudden the console would never get past the swirl logo and would keep resesting itself. It was the fuse. One has to understand, you can order fuses, go to Radio Shack, I could not find the identical fuse and to get it fixed costs $34.95. I can buy a another one between $19.99 and $24.99. That is a hell of a deal considering the Dreamcast was around $200.00 a very short time ago. If one reads the specs on it one will see it competes with all other consoles on the market. Actually it is a really good machine everybody should have one.

The Katana Sub Chip, what goes into the fabrication of the chip I do not know. In the world of electronics subcontractors performing work for a manufactor who has an orginal contract are common. This leaves a lot of room for ethics. The Dreamcast hit the market in 1998 as the first online 128 bit machine(this was huge) then shortly their after about 3 years the Dreamcast dissappeared amongst contraversy.

Turn the Dreamcast the right way up and carefully remove the top cover of the unit. This will expose the inner working of your machine. Situated at the front of the unit (right next to the controller sockets) is a small circuit board that contains a few components. The Fusable Resistor will (in most cases) be blue in colour and will be labeled F1.

Pictured above is an F1 formula one race care because of the location F1 on the Katana Sub Chip. Then in the middle is a Katana Sword from Japan, a lot of the manufacturing is done in the Far East. Then to the right, is a Kantana Motorcycle.

This game is made by UFO soft, it reminds me of http://www. fookes.clara.net and the foo fighters, and the conspiracy with the Katana Sub Chip. For the name of this game is. I SPY OPERATION INDUSTRIAL ESPIONAGE.
